The oldest of Hawaiian chants describe the Hawaiian Islands, the forces of nature that shaped them, and all the living things upon them as inextricably connected. This sense of connection is known as “Malama.” When we Malama, we see the needs of others, the world, and ourselves, and we respond. Today, the spirit of Hawaiian culture teaches us lessons of peace, kindness, compassion, and responsibility. These lessons are expressed through the healing practice of caring for others and the warm, genuine greetings that are a hallmark of Hawaiian hospitality.

The theme for this year’s Hearts for the House signature event celebrates the value of Malama, and what could be more fitting than having a luau with good company, delicious food, and lively entertainment for a worthy cause?

Please support this event and the mission of Hospital Hospitality House by becoming a Hearts for the House sponsor.
